Diesel engines are capable of running on a lot of different light oils.
I have personaly seen them run on ATF, Stoddard solvent
(this was an accident). Dilutted engine oil, (Cummins sells
A fuel blending machine for fleet owners to do this). And I have seen a
Detroit run on it's own crankcase oil in a run away governor situation.
TRhye may not run well but they do run. The Military also has a multifuel diesel
in some vehicles. It is made by Teledyne.
