Well, you could work on it all day and not get anywhere if you are too gentle.....

With such a screen, the top half will be near prefect, and the bottom half will be full of rot at the lower glass runs. The bottom atachment of the centre bar will be rotted out too.

Depending on the amount of rot, my standard procedure is to drill out the heads of the screws that hold the lower frame section to the joining pieces, then, having made sure the centre is loose too, I just hammer out the glass, and then hammer downwards on the bottom rail to separate the screen sctions. Of course you have to use your own judgement about how hard you can go before the screen gives up.

Once it is apart I use the MIG welder to rebuild the lower half, particularly where the centre bar sits, and then just re-assemble it with new glass and sealer. i don't use the rubber glazing strip as it actually seems to trap water and contributes to the rust, and the inside of the screen seems to show more rust than the outside.

Mind you, with a Carryall, the windscren is the easy bits.
