Thanks to all who responded. I just drove the new 2000 quad cab 2500 diesel 4X4 home. The wife liked the way it drove so we bought it. We also got a pretty decent discount off of sticker. Of course the new car tax and title make up for that to some extent.
We ended up getting an automatic. When my wife (who regularly drives a stick and used to drive my '83 Dodge w/stick) tried the 2500 diesel stick, she had problems. She had to move the seat way up front and this put her left foot at a very odd angle to the clutch and it was difficult. She told me she could handle it but I saw how much happier she was in the automatic so we went that way.
