As Dave said, be sure you want to do it, have the time, or can afford the project before you start. Whatever you do, don't start the project and be forced to stop mid way through it.

I bought a '48 PW a few years back which was in decent condition. I have gone through all the electricals and mechanicals. At home engine rebuild, trans, transfer, brakes, tires, axles, winch, gas tank, etc. It's still not cosmetically pretty, but a decent and reliable truck.
I have bought all the sheetmetal that I need for a restoration, but haven't got around to doing the resto.
I have about $9000 in parts in this thing.
I estimate that I'll have about $12 to $13,000 in it by the time it's completed.

Ya sure you want to do this plus the high costs of a repower?
