Couple of clarifications – the term “Power Wagon” (PW) in it’s original form is the civilian version “flat-fendered” pickup of a WW2 workhorse that served many uses - command car, weapons carrier, ambulance & others – see “Military Dodge Identifier” at the very bottom of Joe’s “Pictures” page. This civilian PW is the truck pictured at the top of Joe’s Forum page that was basically unchanged (especially in appearance) from 1946 – 1978 (domestic sales ceased in 1968).

In 1957, the PW nameplate was added to Dodge’s expanded 4 x 4 lineup of “conventional cab” & Town Wagon models with “W” designations, as in W100 ½ ton, W200 ¾ ton & W300 1 ton.

1. Of course, one of the best places is Joe’s own “Pictures” & “Database” pages. Also check out Joe’s “Books & Magazines” page – link to Amazon.com.

2. “Dodge Trucks” by Don Bunn. One of the most comprehensive black & white pic books. It covers virtually every Dodge truck from 1916 to 1996. This green hardback is about $30 - $35. It is published by Classic Motorbooks, ISBN 0-7603-0118-2 & should be available locally or Amazon.com.

3. “Dodge Pickups History & Restoration Guide 1918 – 1971” by Don Bunn & Tom Brownell is also black & white. It’s a softcover for about $20 – 25. It has a chapter devoted to the civilian PW. Also published by Classic Motorbooks, ISBN 0-87938-491-3.

4. “Dodge Pickup Color History” by Don Bunn & Mike Mueller. Again published by Classic Motorbooks, ISBN 0-7603-0170-0, should be about $20. Great color pics & a PW chapter.

5. “Standard Catalog of 4 x 4’s 1945 – 1993” by Robert C. Ackerson. Krause Publications, ISBN 0-87341-203-6, about $25. Basically every make of 4 x 4, very comprehensive specs, loads of black & white pics.

6. Any original “MoPar Parts List” you can find from the 40’s – 70’s has a section labeled “Group 23 – Body” with excellent front & rear views of most truck models in black & white. If your town has a long time Dodge dealer, go down & make friends with the parts manager – you’ll want to know him if your getting a truck anyway. A good parts man is invaluable & he may let you look through the old books.

7. Check out Jay Good’s site below. Lots of rally pics.

Hope that helps. Cheers, JB
