My Chevy 400 powered M37 has HD rear axles made by Strange Engineering, also known for their 1/4-mile applications. I have no idea if they were a stock item or custom. A friend of mine inquired and Strange said they were worth around $900 (!). They were put on by the previous owner of the truck, who had snapped a few shafts going from his dirt road onto the paved city street. No problem once the Stranges were installed. You may want to give Strange a call.
