Probably the only good way is by the serial number. I don't think that there are any exterior or interior differences in the B1 and B2 Pws. In 1949 the tailgate was changed, but I believe 1948 and 1949 models were B1s. The B2 was maufactured in 1950. The starting serial number for the B2 was 83,917,001 and the closing S/N was 83,921,140 for vehicles manufactured in Detroit. For B2 vehicles manufactured in San Leandro, CA, the starting S/N was 88,766,001 and the closing S/N was 88,766,296. In 1951, the B3-PW had the pickup box changed and the gauges were moved to the center of the dashboard. Don't know if this info is useful to you. It's the best I can do!
