I have the same sort of problem the factory spec for the front leaf springs unloaded was 5 1/4" of arc. I know of one person who was able to have his springs re-arced. I have installed rancho RS 9000 shocks in the front, along with lockout hubs, and rebuilt my steering idler arm assembly. This greatly improved my handling.
