Here's another thing to consider. With a fixed front shackle and hinged rear shackle, when you make a turn, the outside front wheel moves slightly to the rear and the inside wheel moves slightly forward. The converse is true with a hinged front shackle and fixed rear shackle. I can't help but think that this will make a noticeable difference in the vehicle's steering characteristics. Whether it is for better or worse, well, I don't know, but unless you want to make a serious study of this, I think I'd leave things as is.
