Buy it and keep it 6 volt. It should be fairly simple to change to 12 if you really want to - but that would lower the resale value. I remember that the 6 and 12 volt units have different fan belts for some reason, but I would expect to be able to swap generators and regulators plus bulbs, then just drive away, the starter you could ignore till you had a problem (unlikely). There really is nothing wrong with the 6v system, it is not so much of a pig to start as my 6v GMC DUKW, for example. If you need to run 12v accessories like a radio just fit another 6v battery and charge it now and again. WC Dodges are not really Power Wagons - just as good but differen. I've always assumed that the Power Wagon name originated just after WW2. Gordon (P.S. Happy New Year to everyone from Scotland, where we really know how to celebrate these things. 8-)
