I managed to get some more info from the winch housing if it will help to tell what the winch is rated for.
Numbers cast into housing on drive side of winch under "sadle" M2 134
Numbers cast into end cap MU 248
Numbers stamped into top of housing: 3-104-L
5712772
I'm guessing the lower set of numbers indicate the date of manufacture (1957) ?
