I currently have four wheel discs on my M37, but even when I only had discs on the front, I never had any problems stopping with a fully loaded M101 behind me... And I've been known to tow it at speeds in excess of 75mph...
Back before I did the engine swap (and all the other related upgrades), I found that the trailer still behaved very well behind the M37.
With the hand brakes set, you can also dump the trailer when you pop the pins holding the front of the bed to the frame and back your truck...
