I just bought a 1963 D-300 dually that I'm converting to 4wd and I'm swapping out the dana 70 dually for a dana 80 srw. I'm doing it because:
1. the subdivision I live in Arvada, CO has a convenant forbidding any trucks larger than 3/4 ton and there is no way I can pass it off as a 3/4 ton with dual rear wheels.
2. the dana 80 is stronger and has 4.10 vs 4.88 gears, plus a limited slip which will match the dana 60 front I have and I picked
up the dana 80 for little more than it would have cost me to change the gears plus add a limited slip in the dana 70.
3. single rear wheels are easier to get thru the fast food lanes!
