put a plastic inline fuel filter between
fuel pump & carb
you can see if the pump is working and also
what the fuel looks like (ie you put in clean gas and you have rusty stuff in filter)
we had a problem with the 48 where the gas tank had crud & the pickup would get plugged
took to local radiator shop had it cleaned
correctly - works like it should now
