I had something like this happen to me. At first I thought the pump just went bad but, as it turned out, there was excessive varnish in the gas and it would gum up everything just enough in the pump causing the valves to stick and not build pressure. Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. When I installed the new pump it ran great for about 15 min to a half hour and then stopped with the same problem. But by this time, the carb was so gummed up the float stuck and started to leak everywhere. Have you checked /changed the gas? Even if you flush the tank with new gas, the new gas will create the same problem over and over again by removing any residual varnish inside the tank.
