General rule
GA - wire from ignition switch to gauge(s)
SW - wire from sending unit to gauge
You can connect serial wires, one from GA of switch to one gauage, and from that gauge to another gauge's GA terminal, but each sending unit's wire has to go to the proper gauge.
Use APB's suggestion to do a simple test of electrical drain to determine the ammeter's terminals, then mark - and + using a permanent marker
