I need some help! I am sure somebody out there has solved the problem. I spent a day searching forums with no luck.

I have a WDX with a 318 conversion. The 318 is a LA 318 I have been told. It comes out of a ~74 Dodge 1/2 ton P/U. It has the electronic ignition.

The stock center dump exhaust manifold will not work on the drivers side due to the location of the stock stearing box.

The stock manifold turns downwards before it enters the common collection rail. The downwards turn causes the conflict with the stock steering box.

Is there an exhaust manifold option available? Is the solution a header pipe? I have seen an interesting possibility in the Hedman header line. The "tight tubes" model 78500 might work. I may have to modify the rear tube routing. The rear tube looks like it would run parallel with the top of the steering box. Don't know if it would hit or not. It offers a starting point at least.

How have the LA 318 conversion owners resolved this issue?

I have resolved all but this issue. Made it thru the starter interferance. Found a proper lower radiator hose. Got the hydrolic clutch mounted.

Currently our email provider is having server troubles. I can check the forum.
