I believe RTV silicon will foster corrosion of the frame since it will attract and harbor moisture in the interface.
USE POLYURETHANE instead. You can get a tube of it from your local automotive glass shop. They use it to hold windshields in place. It is very strong, comes in different cure times, is a pain to work with. I would just run a bead in the channel, stuff the glass in, and trim with a razor blade or x-acto knife any that sticks out after it cures. It is a structural adhesive. Surfaces have to be clean and dry to get a good bond. I have even patched rusted floors and trunks with the stuff by squeegying it to wet out fiberglass cloth (on taped-down plastic wrap or wax paper). The hard part is picking up and manipulating the wet-out fiberglass, but it hardens fairly stiff.
DO wear gloves, surgical or nitrile, as it is nasty stuff to get off your skin.
