Do not even think of buying a new POWER WAGON if you do not intend to play off road. The CTD is not available and probably never will. It won't fit because of the standard winch mounting. And the automatic transmission is the better choice for torque management in extreme off road situations. It's much better than slipping the clutch.

If you need a regular work truck with occasional four wheel drive, get the 2500 4x4 with CTD and manual transmission. You'll really like the fuel mileage and towing characteristics. The Ram 2500, 4x4 with CTD is about the same money as the POWER WAGON with the Hemi.

The Dodge marketing people have totally failed to understand that the POWER WAGON is not a Ram 2500. The frames have different part numbers as do many drive train components.

I love my POWER WAGON. I'm retired and do not use it for anything besides POWER WAGON play. The cost per mile is twice that of a CTD Ram 2500. I can afford it since I drive only for fun.

This past week-end I picked up an M-37 and hauled it from Louisiana to Texas. I had to pull the M-37 and the Ford wrecker it was hanging from out of a serious mud hole following 2 inches of rain. The great feeling of dragging this combination to high ground made the poor gas mileage even less important. Can you say "electric lockers"? Oh, yes! My gas mileage hauling the M-37 into a 30 mph head wind all the way home was 7.5 mpg.

I have owned my POWER WAGON two weeks less than a year and have 27,500 miles. Ask the California guys which was the only POWER WAGON to run through the log obstacle course at Hollister - or to even try. If you need what a POWER WAGON will do, there's no other choice.
