In the interest of a fair and balanced forum - you should consider it. The time and cost of fixing up an old fender is an issue. Painting and installing a clean straight fender has a lot of benefits. Wacking tree limbs is only an issue if you are in the woods bouncing off trees. These trucks only go so fast in the woods, you should have plenty of time to avoid a tree. If you whack a tree hard enough, the steel fender will fold up anyway. You might be in an area where there are no trees within a 100 miles. If you're doing a full resto (well not really with plastic fenders) and don't plan on off roading too much (or carefully), an don't mind plastic, then go ahead.
