I'm not sure that I'd re-use the old rings, if you have the motor torn down that far, why not put new rings (sold at NAPA for the Poly) in it? Rings undergo a lot of heat cycles which degrade them over time, by making them brittle (and prone to breakage). My motor had seriously weakened rings on one entire bank of cylinders, 1-3-5-7, you can't tell by looking at them, so rather than do this again in a few months, put new rings in it!
