It is my understanding that you should only use a GL1 rated gear oil in the tranny to protect the yellow metals in the syncros etc.
You can get a GL1 90W gear oil at Napa in a 5 gallon pail by ordering P/N 65-205. It runs about $30.00 for 5 gallons and it is what I use in 3053A in my M35A2.
