I just picked up an 84 d150 pickup cheap with 60,000 miles. My questions are these, will it bolt up to a pre 70's hydraulic bell housing? are all 318's sort of the same block? and will it run ok with all the air pump stuff removed. I looked up the motor specs in an old chiltons and it seems these early 80's motors didn't have much horse power compared to earlier ones.Is it a dog motor? I'm wondering if I should waste my time trying to swap it into my PW or keep looking for an earlier one? Any comments.
