I have a 76 powerwagon w/a 400 v8 and a 4 speed manual trans. The throwout bearing just went out... However when I tore it apart it seems to have been riding on the tranny input shaft for quite some time. However now I have replaced it and checked to make sure that the fork and the bracket that mounts it inside the bellhousing are tight and not allowing it slide out when I push the clutch in.
However now that everything is reassembled and working it still seems to be hanging up on the tranny shaft. I've checked linkages and everything is tight and properly adjusted. The problem seems to be that the fork continusly angles itself toward the ground and allows the throwout bearing to ride on the transmission shaft...

The only thing I can come up with is that the spring clip that is riveted to the fork is worn out. But there are no signs of it being worn. So I need help... That and the $80 electric fuel pump went out on me today on the highway... again... Please help very frustrated. Thanks
