M37 stopped running

I started my m37 to warm it up. I reached under the dash to open the vent and a bare wire grounded, cause a spark and then the engine died and will turn over normally but will not fire. Could I have blown a fuse or did I burn out the coil? Is the coil part of the Distributor. I followed the wire and it doed go to the base of the distributor. Robert N.
