How did you go through the front pads, calipers and rotors in under 16K miles? My '90 Suburban goes 60 to 80K on pads and that is with basically non-working rear brakes.

Must be the replace it all mentality of most shops. If they replace all the parts regardless of condition there is less likelyhood of it coming back at them for warrantee work. Plus they get to make more profit on the parts and do not have to spend any time figuring out what is really the problem.

I just changed out the calipers, rotors, brake lines and pads on my '90 Suburban. It was the second set of rotors to be replaced and they were not worn much at all but were of poor quality metal and developed hard spots in them. One caliper mounting pin was broken (scarry) and I needed new pads (50% wear but with new rotors new pads). It was cheaper to buy fully loaded calipers (with top of the line pads) than it was to buy 4 pins and pads. So I replaced the calipers.

Loaded calipers $50 each, rotors $80 each and brake lines $10 each. Under $300 and three hours of my time. They work really great and are very smooth.
