'96 Honda Civic - brake job for four wheels about 3 years ago around $340. Local(Conn.)neighborhood garage near where I worked. Low overhead (one guy and his two nephews), for what that's worth. They really know how to take care of their cusomers.
It hurts to hear that Joan's mom may have gotten soaked. It pays to get and compare prices ahead of time, if possible.
