What you see at B-J is normally the cream of the crop in vehicles, with the biggest names in car collectors, body work and paint. Sometimes a feeding frenzy starts and sometimes folks don't want to lose face amongst their "peers", plus they are on TV!
Where else can you see two guys bidding over 3 MILLION for a Olds?
The thing is, regardless of price, you see the same cars come back a year or two later and re-selling at a higher price, so it re-enforces the "value" of the vehicle.
Lastly, for many of these guys, they are the early group of baby boomers, they have made their fortunes and they are connecting with their teen years etc.(it's called a mid life crisis!) Notice that the highest prices are for the mid 50's to early 70's customs and muscle cars that were the "hot" cars when these guys and gals were in high school. 1969 GTX went for $200,000 last night, I didn't buy it when it was new at $2,800, $3,400 with the HEMI....oh well! ha!ha!
Note: this means that a Dodge sold for more than a Ferrari ha!ha!
