Mark, the cheapest I paid for gas in 1966 was 28 cents a gallon. I remember it was common to drive in to the "Service Station" tell the attendant to "put a Buck in it" and while he was pumping the 3.5 gallons he would clean the windshield, check the tire pressure, oil and radiator. I found a receipt I kept for a rear differential seal replacement, $7.43.
Now THAT hurts!
