The key is the link where they send you to the fake login page. Look closely at it (the actual link, not the text that purports to describe the link) and you'll see it isn't really ebay or paypal at all, though sometimes they fake it to try to be close. It won't hurt anything to actually click on the link so long as you don't type in your real password and account information. Sometimes when I'm bored, I follow the link and put a bunch of phony information in just to waste the thieves' time. Most of the time these kind of crooks are from eastern Europe, and if they're sloppy it will show in their fake "paypal" address (.ru instead of .com, for example).
