Don't pound on the outide of the bearing. Find the right size pipe or press and apply pressure to the inner race. Be Clean. check all your tools or hyd. press parts for debris. Clean them. Rinse all bearings and gear with wd-40 or a similar pressurized-can type lube. Check for lube oil compatibility and wash that baby down! You might be surprised at what you find- metal shavings, bits of rags, chet that fell outa your pocket during the install, etc. Check all side clearances wit' a feeler guage and be strict! longevity depends on this. And most of all...throw away all those 3rd world bearings. Best bearings are made here or France where the fussy french have not yet learned to screw up a bearing (the Germans have!) Bad bearing are made from used chewing gum and ol' banana peels in Chino an' Brasil' where they hire malcontents an prisoners to finish them off. Go slow. As questions. Longevity is the mos importan... Do this one time an it is for your lifetime.
