Thanks Norm, Chris, Andy and Steve.
So Chris, about spinning the valves with a drill, I assume I need to disassemble the rocker assembly? On a Triumph engine, after pulling the head bolts that go through the rocker assembly are removed the entire rocker assembly lifts right off. Imagine my suprise after pulling the 5 head bolts and it would not move. I felt pretty silly when I realised the rocker pedestals are part of the head casting. Triumph 1, Dodge 0. I havent pulled the manual out yet, but looking at it I assume the tube that the rocker arms pivot on must be slid out of the pedestals. I am thinking that I would only need to slip it out past the troublesome valves to remove those springs, otherwise I dont see how to get a drill past the rocker.
As far as a damaged valve, is it possible when it was stuck in the full open position the piston vould have hit it on the upstroke? Or is there enough clearance in the chamber for the valve to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and live to tell about it?
I did another comp test on the low cyl tonite and it is now just shy of 100, I think the oil is loosening things up in that one.
If I can get the dead one to show some life I will go ahead and fire it up.
Thanks, Tim
