I have a non oem replacement 1978 Econoline Van gas tank in my M37. It is mounted with the replacement straps that it came with. It sits about 2" lower than a stock tank, and as such, I have a couple of dents in mine now. Filler neck lines up nicely. I think it holds about 35 gallons.
