No the oil pump drive cannot move once installed in the engine. Civilian 230 distributos can be installed 180 degrees off. M37 dist can only go in one way. One problem I have seen is someone will put a civilian dist into an M37 engine and it will fit but it makes the shaft wobble and will destroy the bushings in the distributor and who knows what else.
