I have steel roofs on all my buildings. My new shop has Commercial Standing Seam Steel Roof.
Its been on since 2000, so I have some winters behind it now. The Snow slides off the Standing Seam like an avalanche. My other steel roofs are the type that get screwed down through the Steel Sheets. It will slide snow, but not nearly as good as the Standing seam. The Hex Head screws that hold the older roofs down give the snow/ice something to grab on and slows the snow sliding off.
Standing seam is expensive compared to the other style that gets screwed thru the sheets, but there is no comparison in snow/ice slide results.
