It was fully 6 inches wider in the middle than at either end. (No sh*t)
I went the 'weld in pipe' route after *much* cut and stitch while working to an 8x8 beam to take out the strech - they musta dropped a bunch of big stuff in there.
To repair the kinked tailgate, I built up an tapered mandrel and ironed it out from the inside in several stages with the rosebud heat technique. Worked pretty well.
