As mentioned above, each manufacturer has specific properties. A Line-X spray-on is not as soft as the Rhino and is more dent and chip resistant. I carry a lot of metal in my Rhino lined bed, no problems when new, some chipping when I didn't use the UV protectorant, the UV rays break down the Rhino faster than the Line-X, but the Line-X is slicker. I know from actual experience also, 40 years worth, that the drop-in liners are mostly junk, they tear, puncture, rip and move constantly, causing massive paint wear. When dirt and/or sand gets between the liner and the bed it acts as sandpaper, The drop-in liners are only 1/16" to 1/8" thick and dent much easier than a 1/4" spray-in.
Sorry you had a bad experience with the Spray-on, but by the quality is by far, better than the drop-in liners.
