I guess it's just my luck then. My 99 D was a fantastic truck even though I had to replace the bj's at 11K. I only had it until it turned 16K when I killed it (in a rollover). Maybe DC's ratings are up because people only keep them a few years and then get rid of em?????? My tranny probles didn't start until I had 16K, and I now have 24K and still have the same tranny issues.
If we were ever to get a new vehicle again, I'm really not sure as to what We'd get because IMHO, they ALL SUCK! As far as JD Powers and the like, how do they come to their conclusions? They ask people, and quite frankly, a majority of the people out there are stupid when it comes to mechanical things.
Years ago (late 70's), GM did a survey about mechaincal improvements or making the vehicles quieter. The people chose quieter, so they added more clay in body panels. I think Paul in NY has the right idea, and totally rebuild an old truck with some modern conveniances.
