Electric Fuel Pumps

I purchased a '56 DPW several years ago, which was equipped with an electric fuel pump. In my attempt to make the fuel system original, I purchased an OEM, NOS, mechanical pump from Advance Auto Parts.($21). Box was dusty, but was original with the glass sediment bowl. It has worked perfectally. Since then, I have purchased two additional PW's, but again one came with an electric fuel pump. What part of the puzzel am I missing?
