They now are frowning upon older trucks under contract with the USFS. The Military Trucks have a hard time with the GVWR on the dash and carring a lot of water. They go by the stamped GVWR of the truck not what it can carry anymore. I weigh 41,020 lbs full and a 2.5 ton is rated under 26,000 lbs! My Factory GVWR is 46,000 lbs on my truck even tho it is allowed to pull another 40,000 lbs behind it. Seems they think newer is better now. That is why you see a lot of Type 6 Engines being sold along with Older Tankers there just not getting called out much. I am lucky that the Class 8 Trucks don't fall under that rule since they are not throw away vehicals after 100K on them like the smaller trucks. Mark H.
