I have ran Western, Meyer, and Fisher plows, and to me, it seems the Western is the best all-around plow. When you compare your standard Western to the standard issue Meyer the Western blades tend to be heavier and 'dig' better instead of 'floating' or 'riding' on top of the snow. As for electronics and pumps, Meyer setups tend to be a bit harder to hook up, because they are all electrically controled and have more wiring issues compared to Western. The Western controls the up-down and side-to-side plow angle with cables, as Meyer uses electronic solenoids. Also it seems the Western pumps have a faster lift time and are stronger than Meyer setups. The problem with the cables on a Western is they do tend to break once in a while and cost around $50 for a new one...... Also on a Western, it would behoove you to get a tube of silicone and there is small side acess panels on the side of the pump to get to where the cable hooks to the valve and silicone those gaskets and put lots of silicone where the cables go into the pump, as sometimes water gets in them and will freeze and wont allow you to work your pump. Truthfully, it is all a matter of personal preferance, but I myself really prefer Western Snow Plows.
