I assume its a 70's truck. This is a typical problem with older Mopars. Most of the time its the contacts from the main power feed going into your electrical block from the firewall side starting to corrode. They need to be cleaned and polished up (easy to do I use a dremel tool).

It can also be the contacts on the amp meter. All power runs thru the meter and when they get corroded your problem can also happen. The amp meter can also just go bad and your Mopar will be stone cold dead of any electrical power.

Also the famous melting fuse box usually the heater fuse can be polished up and cure this problem also. Those leads the fuse clips into can become tarnished and create resistance which causes heat.
