You just jump the "test lead" to ground, then turn on the key and count the blinks of the trouble light. 80's were 2 digit, 95 is 3 didgits. Then, do a Google for Ford trouble codes, and interpret them. I just went through it on my 95 F250, turned out to need a dist pick up- when I pulled it, it had been FOD'ed. Ran good for 10 mins, then I had to park on the side of the hiway for 10 minutes....
