Yeah, the yuppies and Californians don't want to breathe smoke from anybody's wood stove, but then what happens to all that wood that's left in the woods? Eventually they have a big forest fire and everybody gets 50 years worth of smoke in one week. I wonder how many of those people who think a little wood smoke in the air is deadly have no concerns at all about deliberately inhaling loads of smoke from a big smoldering wad of hemp leaves.

Thankfully nobody's seriously talking about banning wood burners up here. It's even still legal to burn coal, if I could only find some for my coal stove. One local high school even just passed a bond issue to install a new heating boiler that will use wood waste (mostly from "fire-mitigation" projects) instead of natural gas to heat the school.
