Well I thought I fixed the High Temp problem with my 1998 Ram 2500 4X4 Automatic Transmission! It was working great for a while then decided to get warm with no load again but not when I was carring 1,700 lbs up our hill from town in the bed?? SO I have been doing a lot of reading and it looks like the Tempiture Sending Control in the Transmission could be part of my problem. They some times become defective and send the wrong information to the computer which causes Over Drive to lock out and the Converter to not lock in. This is supposed to cause a lot of extra heat in the process. I also read that the Type 3 Fluid is not the best for the transmission(kind I am using) and the type 4 is better? What is the best type for this Transmission cost not being a problem! I am buying a Trans Cooler rated at 45,000 BTU 40,000 GVW with Themo ByPass for the cold weather take off till warm. This has to be large enought for any heat prodused except a real bad problem. I need to know what Transmission I have so I can order the Sending unit to replace when I change the fluid out. I am also going to do the filter again and blow out the cooler and drain the converter. Any information on this matter will help. Thanks, Mark H.
