The wrist pins should be a tight thumb push fit in the rod at room temp and the pistons should be heated to 160F for easy press assembly. I didn't make that up, it came from the book. I have done this with the warm piston wrapped in a rag, held in my hand, with a smooth bronze drift in the hole, and a gentle tap.
