I've got a 270 torn down in the garage. (No, it's not complete, really the only thing left that's any good are the heads) and it doesn't look that much longer than the 6 in my PW. It does use the same type of motor mount as the 6 though. I think where you will run into trouble is the width rather than the length. The heads on these puppies are really wide for the larger valves.
I don't think you'll have to hammer the firewall, but you will run into interference with the hood sides and exhaust manifolds will be a problem with the steering.
