finish for exhaust pipe and muffler

I have heard that paint does not last much time on the muffler and exhaust pipe. Is this true, and if so, is powder coating better for this area?
There is a commercial powder coater very close by that I could have do the work.
I have a special high temp coating on the ex manifold now.

Ceramic coating works great. If you can aford it porcilen works - Bruce, drowning in Sechelt. 9:00PM 11/09/2005
