How you can tell the difference is 1/2 the cylinder is larger than the other. Teh larger bore side goes towards the front of the truck. Adjusting the shoes on these trucks is more of a refined process than simply adjusting the top cams. The shoes are not floating like later model stuff. You MUST make sure the shoes are adjusted correctly, by the book. The shoes have to be centered in the drum with the lower cam then brought out to meet the drum with the upper cam. When you adjust one, then the other needs to be adjusted again. I think the cylinders are defective. I have had new replacements leak before. I replaced them. Good luck, i hope you make the parade
