I had the one in your photo too Norm... but I only got as far as stripping the exterior paint when I found a better candidate (for my skill level anyway). The truck in your photo underwent extensive restoration after I sold it to George Vest in VA... George did a frame up job, including engine and drive train I believe. I also found delivery info printed on the side and was able to document its military history.
The truck Lee has is the one I restored, but while I had everything I could unbolt from it bead blasted, and stripped the body, I didn't take the body off the frame or do any serious drive train work.
When I got it the motor ran ok, so I worked on the body, brakes, electrical... cosmetic restoration really. I also found no markings on it so I couldn't get any history for it.
I'm not sure what it might still need body wise... the floor is finished grade plywood instead of oak... other than that and some dings in the tailgate it was in pretty good shape. The engine was tired though.
A repower that still looks correct on the exterior and gets driven a lot is cool in my book.
I expect that sometime in the future they'll ban internal combustion engines all together and we'll all be looking at a fuel cell motor swap if we still want to drive the vehicles. :)
